“Meet the Founder”
I’m Ravinder Singh, founder of Proud Villager.
My connection to rural life through Pind Life inspired me to help families discover traditional Indian food products.
Our journey began with sourcing ghee from a family-owned dairy in Sirsa, Haryana. Today, we offer ghee, wood-pressed and cold-pressed oils, honey, millets and traditional Indian sweets sourced from producers across India.
At Proud Villager, we believe in thoughtful sourcing, honest communication and keeping traditional food practices connected to everyday homes.
From Travel to Tradition
I’m Ravinder Singh, founder of Tera Hi Tera Foods, based in Delhi. My professional journey spans more than 14 years in the travel industry, including experience in airline back-office operations, the Amadeus Reject Centre (RDM), and American Express Business Global Travel. For the past 10 years, I have also been running my own travel agency.
Working in travel taught me the importance of customer trust, attention to detail, reliability and building lasting relationships. These values continue to guide me in everything I do.
Beyond my professional life, I have always felt a strong connection to rural life and our traditional way of living, something I fondly call “Pind Life.” My interest in traditional foods and my family’s connection to a dairy in Sirsa, Haryana, gradually inspired me to explore authentic Indian food products for my family and friends. That personal journey eventually became the inspiration behind Proud Villager.
Driven by growing concerns about food quality and sourcing, we began researching products and their origins more carefully. We wanted to make traditional food products easier for families to discover, with greater attention to where they come from and how they are prepared.
Our aim is to build relationships with farmers and producers across India who share our respect for traditional food practices, careful sourcing and honest business. We continue to learn, research and improve our selection so that customers can make informed choices for their homes. We started with desi ghee and have since expanded our range to include wood-pressed and cold-pressed oils, honey, millets, and a selection of traditional Indian sweets prepared with ingredients such as desi ghee and honey.
Proud Villager grew from my longstanding personal connection to rural life, which I fondly call “Pind Life.” What began as a personal effort to source traditional food products for family and friends has grown into an initiative to make carefully sourced products available to more homes.
Over time, friends and family began asking us to share the traditional food products we sourced for our own homes. Their encouragement inspired us to expand our selection and build relationships with farmers and producers across India. We continue to research our sources carefully and look for products that reflect our appreciation for traditional food practices, thoughtful sourcing and honest communication.
We invite you to explore the Proud Villager collection and discover traditional food products sourced with care. As we grow, we hope to bring more village-sourced products from across India into your home, while staying connected to the rural traditions and food practices that inspired our journey. Thank you for being part of our story.
